As we race closer to Spring, it seemed like a good time for a stash busting project. In reality, this one project will do no real busting, but at least it makes me feel better personally to say it. I found a cute basket from Jayda In Stitches on YouTube for a basket worked using three variegated strands worked together as one. I looked through my stash and after much debate settled on my three different yarns and decided to get the ball rolling.
I started with hand winding my balls and then realized that I wasn’t using my surroundings to the best of my abilities. I realized that instead of having my skein nearby while I wound it, I could make use of my stairwell to have more working yarn while I wound it. After doing all three initial skeins, I improved techniques again and dug my automatic ball winder out of my craft room and let technology work on my behalf for the remaining three skeins. I don’t normally wind my yarn but since this project required three separate yarns, I wanted to have some measure of control over their movement and having them in more of a cake would mean less moving around as I worked.
